Digital Koi Show Entry – The Koi Perspective

The Koi Perspective Digital Koi Show is judged by real Japanese breeders. The people who have spent their lives creating the bloodlines we all obsess over. Your koi, evaluated properly, not by popularity votes or social media likes.

When you enter you will be emailed a link seperately to your purchase confirmation, with a e-form, you submit a high-quality 4K video of your koi. Thirty seconds. Clear, honest, no filters. Just your fish, as it is. This allows the judges to assess movement, body conformation, skin quality, pattern balance and overall presence, exactly how koi are meant to be judged.

Please ensure you carefully read and adhere to all Digital Koi Show rules before submitting your entry. Entries that do not meet the stated filming, format or submission guidelines may be disqualified. The standards are in place to protect fairness, maintain judging integrity, and ensure every koi is assessed on equal terms.

Submit one clear photo and one video of per koi you wish to enter below.

  1. The size of the entered Koi must be submitted and as accurate as possible.

  2. Include the breeder’s name and dealer name for each fish if known.

  3. All entries must be submitted by the deadline (22nd NOVEMBER) via form below, if you require assistance email me on: show@thekoiperspective.com

  4. Depending on volume, a maximum number of entrants and OR a maximum number of Koi PER ENTRANT may be imposed, and the deadline may be brought forward to ensure the competition remains manageable for judges and committee.

  5. Proof of ownership may be requested after submission. This can be provided either via confirmation from the dealer/importer or a video of the koi swimming in a pond located in the UK.

  6. Butterfly, Longfin, or Short body Koi are not permitted for the Digital Koi Show 2025

Video is most important

Aim for as little glare on the photograph as possible, umbrella’s can come in handy to stop the sunlight!

Capture all sides of the koi, some glare is ok, like seen in the example video, but any video’s with excessive glare will be disqualified immediately.

You can use photos or videos taken in Japan, but if the content is more than six months old at the stage of submission, an updated photo or video may be requested.

⚠️ Submission Requirements:

  • Photos and videos must be clear, with no excessive glare – please try to use shelter or an umbrella to prevent this.

  • The koi should be fully visible and centred in the shot.

  • Video submissions must show all sides of the fish and not just a left or right hand side, this will result in immediate disqualification.

  • Poor quality entries will be rejected (e.g. partial visibility, dark footage, or overly reflective images).

  • Videos should show the fish swimming naturally side-to-side and not completely sedated, ideally lasting 20 seconds.

  • Winners may be asked for their home address for the purpose of prize delivery.

  • Winners may also be asked to participate in magazine content or future live broadcasts.

This show is fully digital – no transport, no stress on your koi, and no travel costs for you. Entries are judged based solely on your submitted footage and details, so please do your best to make the highest quality submission as possible.

By Submitting your Koi you agree to the following:

  • By entering the Digital Koi Show, entrants grant The Koi Perspective a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, publish, display, and distribute submitted photos and videos.

  • Where reasonably possible, The Koi Perspective will credit the entrant as the owner of the koi.

  • Entries may be used to promote current or future Digital Koi Shows and other activities connected to The Koi Perspective.

  • Submitted media may be edited, cropped, or formatted for publication or promotional purposes.

  • The Koi Perspective reserves the right to disqualify entries that breach these terms or attempt to manipulate the competition in any way.

    Submitted content may be used across, but not limited to:

    • The Koi Perspective Magazine (print)

    • The Koi Perspective website

    • The Koi Perspective social media channels

    • The Koi Perspective YouTube channel

    • Promotional materials related to the Digital Koi Show

  • Personal data submitted as part of the entry process will be used solely for the administration of the Digital Koi Show and related communications.
